CORPORATE FITNESS CHALLENGE
Objectives
Adoption of the Corporate Physical Challenge program
allows a substantial proportion of your workforce to experience
improvements in moral, self-esteem and job satisfaction that are
a result of enjoyable non-work activities. The primary objective
is to involve and encourage employees to improve their overall wellness
through a program that is a challenge between states, offices, divisions
or departments.
Concept
The inspiration for the Physical Challenge is to
improve voluntary participation in specific, activity-based programs.
The challenge is for employees to complete and aerobic profile,
which is 30 minutes of accumulated exercise of a minimum of three
days per week. By participating, accrued points for both individual
and team participation contributes to their score, for which incentives
are awarded, to both individuals and teams. Healthy life-styles
require a multi dimensional approach, and the Physical Challenge
is not limited to just activity or fitness, but also education and
nutrition are addressed to form a major component of a productive
life, and can also be intergrated into the Physical Challenge.
Planning
Considerations for the Operational plan would include
tailoring the challenge to your work force profile, administration
systems, policies and procedures. A successful Physical Challenge
can be identified with a ìlogoî. Secondly a program
coordinator in each area should be appointed as these people are
a vital part of the success of the program. This person must have
access to the necessary resources, authority and managerial support
and be officially appointed to this role.
